When you are of a “special size”, it’s almost impossible to perfect attires for yourself. You have to assume that no clothing manufacturer has made clothes keeping your size in mind. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t don the clothes you desire. The only way for you to great fit is if you get them tailored.
Even if your size isn’t that different, you will still not be able to find attires that fit you perfectly. Be it getting a perfect pant inseam or maintaining the right bust: hip: waist ratio, only a tailor can help in this respect. But more often than not, finding a good tailor is the most complicated of all.
Here are some tips which can help you find a tailor which is perfect for you:-
Look out for tailors who have excellent reviews: Don’t entrust any tailor who is inexperienced as they can destroy your clothes. Many websites offer reviews of these tailors that you should follow before zeroing in on a specific one.
Ask other ladies: It’s always helpful if you can get your lady friend or relatives to help. Many of them might have references to some good tailors that you can find and use.
Ask the stores if they have in-house tailors: Most well-known stores will have their tailor of their own which is why you ask them first before going to another local stores just for alterations.
See what kind of work tailors do: After going to a tailor, ask them to show you some of the work they have done previously. Most of them will have some samples which you can see to get an idea of what you can expect from them.
Don’t bring the more expensive stuff before: When you are visiting a tailor for the first time, don’t give them your expensive attires to alter right away. Take a cloth of lesser value and see what the tailor is capable of.
Make sure that the cost of tailoring compensates with the value of the attire: If the cost of alterations alone is higher than the dress itself, tailoring it will be a loss for you. Precisely for this reason, you should make sure that the value of the dress is much higher than tailoring cost.
Now that you have got yourself a good tailor, it’s important to tell them what you want. Proper communication is the key to making sure that your dresses come out nice.
